Donna Wyse is an Assistant Professor of psychology in the Department of Psychology and Social Sciences. She began her social work career working as a case manager in a halfway house for women with drug and alcohol issues, eventually working her way up to leading educational groups.
While completing an internship for her bachelor’s degree, Wyse worked at a long-term care facility as an activity assistant. This involved working with dementia patients, which led Wyse to the job of program coordinator of the secured dementia unit where she coordinated activities, met with families, completed assessments and provided support for residents and their family members.
After earning her master’s degree, she began working at Shalom Counseling and Mediation Center in Archbold, Ohio, as a counselor. Wyse said she finds this area of counseling intriguing and is honored when she is able to walk alongside her clients on their grief journeys.
Wyse is married with two children and enjoys running in her spare time. She has completed a total of four half-marathons and hopes to run one in each of the 50 states. She also enjoys watching her daughter play softball and looks forward to the day she can watch her play at the collegiate level.
