Environmental engineers hold the key to protecting our communities and ecosystems from pollution, contaminated water sources, air quality issues, and unsustainable practices. As the Environmental Engineering professor at Trine University, my teaching philosophy is captured by the mantra, 'the one doing the work is the one doing the learning.' In my classes, students actively engage in problem-solving, critical thinking, and developing sustainable engineering solutions.
Understanding the role AI will play in the careers of future engineers, I’m dedicated to ensuring students develop AI literacy and learn to use AI responsibly to enhance their own learning. Beyond the classroom, I lead professional development sessions through Trine University's Center for Teaching Excellence, supporting fellow educators in adopting innovative teaching strategies.
When I'm not teaching or collaborating with colleagues, you'll find me at Little Henry Lake kayaking, learning how to fish, and simply enjoying nature.
