I am an analytical chemist by training and inclination. I like the puzzle of using experimental data to answer specific questions. Although originally trained as an electrochemist at the University of Florida, I work a lot more with chromatography and spectroscopy now. I have long had a fascination for forensic science and find environmental questions good projects for student research. I was able to combine these two interests into a certificate in environmental forensics from the University of Florida.
Although I worked for a long time at Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia, I am excited to be home. I was raised just the other side of the border in a small town in southern Michigan, and did my undergraduate work at Adrian College. If possible, I like to travel out of the country at least once a year. One of my major life accomplishments is that I have visited all seven continents. When I have to stay home, I provide a lap for my two cats to sleep on, work on knitting or crocheting projects, and read novels.
