National, state organizations renew Franks School of Education accreditation

January 13, 2025

The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and the Indiana Department of Education recently renewed the accreditation of Trine University’s Franks School of Education (FSOE).

“We’re proud that CAEP and the state department of education have recognized that Trine University teacher education students receive training that meets or exceeds the highest standards of excellence, and grateful for their affirmation as we continue to equip our students to make a positive impact as educators,” said Megan Tolin, DET, dean of the FSOE.

CAEP announced Trine University’s accreditation renewal on Jan. 2. The Indiana State Board of Education voted to extend continuing state accreditation to FSOE at its Dec. 11 meeting.

CAEP is the sole nationally recognized accrediting body for educator preparation. Accreditation is a nongovernmental activity based on peer review that serves the dual functions of assuring quality and promoting improvement.

CAEP was created by the consolidation of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Teacher Education Accreditation Council. It is a unified accreditation system intent on raising the performance of all institutions focused on educator preparation.
