Day Camp FAQs

What are the hours for the camps?

 8U/10U/12U camp begins at 8:00 am and ends at 4:15 pm (Monday-Thursday). Friday schedule is 8:00am-1:45 pm. 

14U/16U camp begins at 8:30 am and end at 5:15 pm (Monday-Thursday). Friday schedule is 8:30 am-3:15 pm. 

Is lunch included for day camps?

 Yes, the day camps will eat lunch daily on campus at the dining hall. 

How many ice sessions per day?

 Monday through Thursday, there are 4 ice sessions a day. On Friday, there are two-hour and a half sessions. 

What do campers need to bring to camp?

 Day camp list:

*Athletic Shoes
*Water Bottle *Sunscreen 

Can parents watch camp?

 Parents are welcome to watch ice sessions but they have to be in the stands. Parents will not be allowed in the locker room or around the camp once it begins (first ice session). 

Will there be staff in the locker room to assist with equipment and tie skates?

 There will be camp staff in the locker rooms to supervise and assist with equipment and tying skates before each ice session. 

Can players have electronics/cell phones during camp?

 In an attempt to avoid distractions, please do not send your hockey player to camp with a cell phone or any electronics. Cell phones are prohibited. If you need to get a hold of your players in an emergency, please call 260-665-4325 or 260-665-4319. 

Do players need money during camp?

 Lunches are provided throughout camp days, however if a player would like a snack or Gatorade, the concession stand will be open. We recommend players bringing $10 or less. 

Does Thunder Ice Arena sharpen skates during camp?

 A Thunder Ice Arena staff member can sharpen skates at the end of the day of camp. When parents check the player out, drop them off with the staff member and they will be sharpened by the morning session. The cost is $8 for a sharpening. 

Overnight Camp FAQs

How many meals are provided through the day?

 On our full days, Tuesday-Thursday: the campers will eat Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner at the dining halls. We recommend that campers bring snacks and drinks for the dorm. 

Will there be concessions or snacks for campers to buy?

 Yes, there will be a concession stand open at the rink daily for drinks and snacks. Campers will need their own money for this. We will also have pizza available every evening. The campers will need to pay in cash for the pizza. The pizza is $2 a slice. We also encourage campers to bring their own snacks and drinks in the dorm. 

How many ice sessions per day?

Sunday will have 1 ice session. Monday through Thursday, there are 4 ice sessions a day. Friday there will be one
final game. 

What do campers need to bring to camp?

 Daily at the rink: 

*Hockey Equipment *Athletic Shoes *Water Bottle *Sunscreen 

*Extra change of under garments (recommended) 

What do campers need to bring to stay overnight?

*Twin-size Linens (or sleeping bag is a good substitute) *Pillows *Towels/washcloths


*Personal hygiene items (Shampoo, soap, tooth paste, etc.) *Water Bottle

Where will their equipment stay throughout the camp?

 The equipment will stay in the locker rooms all week. Coaches will make sure the players air out equipment throughout the day and at night. 

Can parents watch camp?

How much supervision will there be in the dorms?

There will be a ratio of 1 coach to 8 campers in the dorms. 

Will there be staff in the locker room to assist with equipment and tie skates?

There will be camp staff in the locker rooms to supervise and assistant with equipment and tying skates before each ice session. 

Can players have electronics/cell phones during camp?

In an attempt to avoid distractions, we are encouraging everyone to not send your hockey player to camp with a cell phone or any electronics. If your camper needs a cell phone or electronic device to call/text home, it will be collected and held by the camp staff at the dorm. Devices will be turned in at check-in on
Monday. Campers will have access to the cell phone every evening when they get back to the dorm to phone home.

What needs to be filled out before arrival on day 1?

Please make sure you have filled out the waiver/medical form. The form will be emailed out 2 weeks before camp begins. Parents can send it back electronically or bring it to camp to turn in at check-in. 

What to do if your camper has allergies?

Please email John Mihalik (mihalikj@trine.edu) with the camper name and all details on the allergies. If it is a food allergy, we will coordinate with the dining staff. 

What to do if your camper has a medication?

Please fill out the medication form which is sent out prior to camp starting.
