Soccer is a big part of James McHone’s life, and he was excited when Trine University
offered him the chance to play.
“When I arrived on campus, I was nervous but excited to start my new life,” the Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, native said. “Yes, I was far from home, but it was cool to see what my home would be for the next four years.”
He said Trine has become home because of the amazing people he met here, especially his girlfriend, whom he met his freshman year.
He plans to coach soccer now that he has graduated and hopes to eventually coach at the college or professional level.
He suggested that prospective students do their research before committing fully to make sure Trine or any other university is the right fit.
“Don't stress about what you want to do when you first come to school,” he said. “You will have plenty of time to figure out what your purpose is and what you will pursue going forward.”
Sirodhar Athyala, Outstanding Student for Trine University’s Master of Science in Information Studies program for the Class of 2026, had more than five years of experience in database management and web development, but wanted to deepen his understanding from a strategic and analytical perspective.
Ethan Sommerfeld heard about Trine University from a friend and decided to check it out for himself.
Alence Poudel had a strong civil engineering background but saw the need for wider expertise in his work. Seeing missed opportunities to use data to solve increasingly complex infrastructure challenges, Alence enrolled in Trine University’s Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program.
