Trine offering surgical technology program in hybrid format

February 03, 2025

Trine University is now offering its associate of applied science in surgical technology degree in an expanded hybrid format, allowing students to complete online coursework from home while gaining valuable in-person experience through immersive courses, lab sessions and clinical rotations.

“We’ve expanded our online course offerings to provide the perfect blend of flexibility and hands-on learning,” said Jennifer Lloyd, program director. “We’re pleased to allow students the convenience of doing coursework in the comfort of their own homes while still giving them the exposure they need in our state-of-the-art labs and in the real world to gain the skills they need for a successful surgical technology career.”

The surgical technology program is housed in the new Dr. Earl D. and Melanie N. Brooks College of Health Professions facility, located near Parkview Regional Medical Center on Fort Wayne’s northeast side.

Among other amenities, the new facility offers state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories, an innovative Simulated Patient Care Center, mock surgical rooms, sterile processing and more.

Trine University’s Associate of Applied Science in surgical technology program prepares students for a career in the growing field of surgical technology, allowing them to complete a degree in as little as 17 months. The program provides maximum clinical exposure, beginning in the first semester, at multiple sites.
