Surgical Technology Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the program?
The program is four consecutive semesters (17 months) in length.
What is the cost of the program?

Where will clinicals be?
We are partnering with Lutheran Health Network, Parkview Regional Medical Center and The Orthopedic Hospital for clinicals.
Is financial aid available?
Yes – FAFSA completion is required to determine eligibility for federal and state aid.
What are my options for housing?
The Trine University Fort Wayne education center is a non-residential facility. For housing needs, we recommend searching apartments or houses for rent in the 46805 ZIP code. Example: apartments.com/fort-wayne-in-46805/
What are the licensing requirements?
Surgical Technologists are not licensed – they are certified.
Are there supplies and materials I will need for this program?
You will need a computer, textbooks, scrubs and Trine attire. Scrubs, attire and the dress code are addressed in the handbook and at the time of interview.
Where is the program located?
The program is located in the growing Trine University Fort Wayne education center on the Parkview Hospital Randallia campus, 1818 Carew St., Suite 150, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Free parking is available in the garage adjacent to the building.

Will I be able to work while in this program?
Students may work while in the program, but they must meet all requirements of the classroom and clinical attendance policy. This information can be found in the student handbook and is addressed at the time of the interview with the program director.
Will you enroll transfer students?
Acceptance of transfer students is dependent upon each student’s transcripts and interview with the program director.
Are classes offered during the day or the evening?
Classes will be offered during the day.
Can I take my non-clinical courses online?
Students can take the following courses online:

- Psychology
- Algebra
- Pharmacology
- Medical Terminology
- Humanities electives
