Married to his wife Amy, Prof. Smead is a proud parent of two adult children, Brandon and Caitlin, with a family that includes 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Having retired to a lake home north of Columbia City, IN, he finds joy in activities like fishing, swimming, and entertaining friends and family. Prof. Smead also nurtures a passion for playing the guitar and maintains a small collection of his favorite instruments.

His impressive credentials include an MBA from Indiana Tech, complemented by various professional certifications. As a certified Six Sigma Green Belt, he has received training in quality engineering and completed coursework for the ASQ certified Quality Manager and Six Sigma Black Belt.
